Britney Spears Receives Welfare Check From Authorities After Posting Concerning Video Dancing w/ Knives

Britney Spears‘ is seemingly still adjusting to living life on her own terms.

The “Baby One More Time” singer uploaded a video to Instagram on Monday (Sept. 25) of herself dancing with knives. The footage sparked concern from fans and ultimately prompted officials to conduct a wellness check.

In the caption, Britney Spears assured the public they shouldn’t worry and the knives weren’t real. She said,

” started playing in the kitchen with knives today –!!! Don’t worry they are NOT real knives !!! Halloween is soon–!!!”

A source spoke on the matter and said  Britney Spears is “fine.”

They added,

“This is overblown. She was expressing her freedom as she continues to do.”

While it’s widely speculated that fans are responsible for the police visit, law enforcement said a member of the LAPD Smart Team — which handles mental evaluations — placed the initial call. Reportedly, once the police arrived they chatted with Spears‘ security, who assured them she was fine but she didn’t want to speak with them.

Spears‘ lawyer subsequently called the police to inquire about the visit and was informed by law officials that they performed the check because the call came from a person with insight into the singer’s personal life. They also said deputies don’t conduct welfare checks due to calls from fans.

According to Spears, she posted the video as a nod to Shakira, who performed at the MTV Video Music Awards earlier this month with knives in her hands. The comments for her IG page have since been shut off.

The questionable knives video comes after the singer’s estranged husband, Sam Asghari, allegedly accused her of putting her hands on him more than once. As previously reported, an insider said the alleged domestic abuse started long before the two were even married.

“Sam frequently complained about Britney getting physical with him during their 7 years together.”

They added that Asghari was even worried about his soon-to-be ex-wife’s alleged knife obsession. According to the source,

Spears “was paranoid someone was going to get her, and she needed the knives as protection.”
