Update: Jacky Oh’s Death Ruled As Accidental, Authorities Will Not Pursue Criminal Charges Against Plastic Surgeon
Update: (Oct. 3, 2023): New details have surfaced surrounding Jacky Oh’s untimely passing.
According to the Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner Department, the “Wild ‘N Out” star passed away due to complications following a “gluteal augmentation” procedure, aka a BBL (Brazilian butt lift). Reportedly, the surgery was a success but afterward, Jacky — real name Jacklyn Marie Smith — developed an unrelated headache. According to officials, she returned to her surgeon — Dr. Zachary Okhah — for a post-operative appointment and received a massage “to alleviate her headache.” Reports note the TV personality was then advised to stop taking one of the medications she was initially prescribed after the surgery and instead take ibuprofen.
Later, Jacky reportedly “began to feel like her head was burning” and had difficulty speaking. Officials said her aunt called 911. Unfortunately, Jacky was pronounced dead in the hospital’s emergency room.
Subsequent to her death, many called for Dr. Zachary Okhah to be held responsible. However, The Miami Police Department confirmed to TMZ today (Oct. 3),
“the medical examiner ruled Jacky’s death accidental, and homicide detectives will not launch a criminal investigation.”
Original Story: (Jun. 5, 2023): New details have emerged regarding the tragic passing of Ms. Jacky Oh.
According to a recently released police report, the 32-year-old was found unresponsive in her hotel room and was taken to the hospital moments before she was pronounced dead.
As we previously reported, BET announced that Ms. Jacky Oh, real named Jacklyn Smith, passed away this past Wednesday (May 31st). At the time of the announcement, the family asked for privacy and opted not to share details (yet) surrounding her cause of death.
A since-deleted Instagram post, however, reportedly revealed that Jacky was traveling to Miami for a surgical procedure hailed as a “mommy makeover.”
The Wild N’ Out alum welcomed three children with longtime partner and comedian DC Young Fly, 31. The pair’s youngest child, a son, was born in July of last year.
The surgeon whom the social influencer was headed to see, Dr. Zachary Okhah, has since come under microscopic fire following Jacky’s untimely passing. Internet users discovered that the plastic surgeon had been at the center of several lawsuits, suing women who claim he botched their procedures. Police are reportedly still investigating the matter. While the cause of Jacky’s death still hasn’t been confirmed, authorities have shared the moments leading up to the TV personality’s passing.
Reportedly, the Miami fire department responded to a call about a woman unresponsive in her room at the Homewood Suites by Hilton Miami Downtown/Brickell just before 10 p.m. that evening. It’s noted that officials transported her to Mercy Hospital where they attempted to resuscitate her. No other details about Jacky’s passing have been shared at this time.
We will continue to update as more details come forward.
