Update: Tory Lanez Denied Bail Once Again As He Appeals Conviction For Shooting Megan Thee Stallion
Update: (Oct. 30, 2023): Looks like Tory Lanez might want to get comfortable at his current location.
According to legal affairs journalist Meghan Cuniff, the singer’s latest motion for bail pending appeal was recently rejected. Cuniff revealed in a post shared to X,
“Just in: The California Court of Appeal is NOT letting Tory Lanez out of prison for shooting Megan Thee Stallion. His motion for bail pending appeal has been rejected.”
She added,
“Appellant has not shown that the superior court unjustifiably denied relief.”

As you may recall, Tory Lanez’s legal team has been trying to get him released on bail as he appeals sentencing for shooting Megan Thee Stallion.
Original Story: (Oct. 10, 2023): Jailed rap star Tory Lanez is continuing his fight for freedom.
According to legal affairs journalist Meghan Cuniff, the musician’s legal team recently submitted new documents requesting his release from prison.
Tory Lanez’s lawyers’ first request that he be released as he appeals his 10-year prison sentence was denied in September. In case you’re unfamiliar, the Canada native, real name Daystar Peterson, was found guilty on three felony charges last year in connection to the 2020 shooting of rapper Megan Thee Stallion.
Despite his initial bail request being denied, it seems the musician and his legal team are trying again. Cuniff shared the reported legal documents to her X account (formerly Twitter), writing:
“Tory Lanez has been in prison for three weeks, but he hasn’t given up on bail. His lawyers are asking an appellate court to let him out of prison as he appeals his convictions and 10-year sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion.”

Continuing, the journalist highlighted the fact that the motion seems to be extremely similar to
“Here’s the full request. The arguments are nearly identical to the motion Judge Herriford rejected at the Sept. 14 hearing in LA (the one where Lanez called me a googly eyed b**ch), including the forgoing of any mention of the rehab pushed at sentencing.”

The legal documents reportedly reiterated Lanez’s plans should he be released. The “Chixtape” artist initially told the judge he planned to relocate to Los Angeles with his “wife,” and rent a home from a friend. The rapper said he would be focused on his family and wanted to live closer to his father and siblings. Additionally, Cuniff noted that Lanez’s lawyers seem to have disregarded the court’s suggestion that the musician attend a residential rehab facility, doubling down on his plans to stay in a rental home.
