Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt’s Daughter Trends After Joining Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority & Seemingly Dropping Her Dad’s Last Name Amid Introduction

Hollywood icons Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s daughter, Zahara, has taken a major step in her undergraduate career!

Recently, Zahara joined the Mu Pi Chapter (est. 1979) of the first historically Black sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. (est. 1908), at Spelman College.

In a forty-second clip of the now-viral moment, Zahara can be seen making her grand introduction to her new line sisters in an all-black dress.

As she excitedly rushed to the center of the crowd, she yelled,

“My name is Zahara Marley Jolie!”

Zahara continued:

“Hailing all the way from the Golden State, in the city that is full of Angels… Los Angeles, California!”

She concluded before taking a kneel and walking away:

“I am this line’s number seven!”

However, although the joyous occasion certainly erupted lots of cheer online, many couldn’t help but notice Zahara’s (seemingly) non-mention of her father, Brad Pitt’s, last name, which has long been reported to be hyphenated at the end of her mother’s.

While some skated past the minor detail, most demanded that others on social media refer to the rising student as what she’d (assumedly) like to be called: Zahara Marley Jolie.

A user took to X (formerly Twitter) and said,

“I need people to respect her as an individual who just said her name out loud ZAHARA. MARLEY. JOLIE. Zero mention of the name PITT. Periodt. She does not consider that MF as her father anymore. Take note of that.”

Another individual added in regard to Brad Pitt:

“People saying oh Brad and Angelina raised [Zahara] right[.] Does Brad know he raised her? This is all Angie’s parenting.”

If you didn’t know, ‘Mr. & Mrs. Smith’ stars Angelina Jolie and Pitt met in 2004 while filming the classic action comedy and (ultimately) married in 2014. They adopted Zahara around 2005/2006 from Ethiopia. Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in 2016, citing “irreconcilable differences,” which prompted a tabloid-driven custody battle between the two over their six children.

Along with previous claims that Pitt failed to hold up all of his duties as a father, last year, rumors swirled that Jolie accused him of “grabbing her by the head,” “choking one of their children,” and hitting another one in the face during the fight that led to their tumultuous breakup. She also alleged that he “poured beer and red wine” on her and the youngsters. The source didn’t name which kids were struck at the time.

Zahara started her journey at Spelman College in 2022. In a previous interview, 59-year-old Pitt gushed about his daughter’s enrollment,

“I’m so proud of her. She’s so smart. She’s going to flourish even more at college. It’s an exciting and beautiful time to find her own way and pursue her interests.”

48-year-old Jolie shared her thrill about now-sophomore Zahara’s HBCU experience upon her entrance into the university.

Under a photo of the young woman with her college mates, she wrote on Instagram,

“Zahara with her Spelman sisters! Congratulations to all new students starting this year. A very special place and an honor to have a family member as a new Spelman girl.”

Congratulations to Zahara on becoming an AKA!

Here’s what else X had to say about the milestone:
