‘Cheer’ Netflix Star Monica Aldama’s Son Arrested For Possession Of Child Porn
The popular Netflix series “Cheer” is making headlines for the wrong reasons once again.
You may recall that in the summer of 2022, series fan favorite Jerry Harris was sentenced to 12 years behind bars for child pornography charges. Reportedly the FBI opened an investigation surrounding the former Navarro College cheerleader in 2019 after it was alleged that he was soliciting sex from minors at cheer competitions, and persuaded teenage boys to text him inappropriate images. Following his arrest, Navarro’s head cheerleading coach Monica Aldama released a statement saying,
“I am devastated by this shocking, unexpected news. Our children must be protected from abuse and exploitation, and I’m praying hard for the victims and everyone affected.”

Unfortunately, it looks like not everyone in Monica Aldama’s inner circle agrees with her stance against the despicable crime. According to TMZ, her son, Austin Aldama, 27, was arrested and charged with possession of child porn in Texas last Thursday (Jan. 18). The warrant for his arrest reportedly references a grand jury indictment against him with 10 counts of possession of child pornography. It’s said that several of the videos prosecutors obtained feature children under the age of 10. After posting bail, Austin Aldama was released on the requirement that he would follow certain conditions such as submitting to random drug testing and voluntary searches of his phone and computer.

Navarro College has had a somewhat rocky history. In 2022 allegations surfaced that some of the school’s cheerleaders previously participated in what many deemed as a Blackface hazing ritual. In addition, in April of the following year, Monica was hit with a bombshell lawsuit from a former athlete who said the coach helped cover up her sexual assault. Both Monica and the school denied the allegations. The lawsuit was dismissed in November 2023.
