Kanye West Likens Himself To R. Kelly, Bill Cosby & Diddy In New Single ‘Carnival’ + Name Drops Taylor Swift

Kanye West released another new single from his forthcoming album and made some pretty interesting comparisons to himself.

The 46-year-old rap star mentioned a few controversial figures in entertainment such as Diddy and Bill Cosby, and also referenced one of his oldest nemesis, pop star Taylor Swift.

In the song titled “Carnival”, with Ty Dolla $ign featuring Playboi Carti and Rich the Kid, Kanye West first compares himself to jailed R&B singer R. Kelly, rapping the lyric:

“They served us the porn since the day we was born / Anybody pissed off, gotta make ’em drink the urine / Now I’m Ye Kelly, b*tch”

R. Kelly

If you recall, Robert ‘R’ Kelly is currently serving a 30-year prison sentence for felony child pornography and sex trafficking charges. One of his earliest cases of sexual abuse came to light in 2002 when the singer, then in his 30s, was indicted on charges related to a video of him allegedly having sex with and urinating on a then 14-year-old girl. While he was ultimately acquitted and didn’t serve any time back then, the law caught up with him in 2022 when he was given the lengthy sentence.

West’s polarizing comparisons didn’t stop at Kelly, however. The rapper went on to mention two more cultural figures who have been caught up in sexual abuse claims over the past few years. He continued on the record:

“Now I’m Bill Cosby, b*tch / Now, I’m Puff Daddy rich / that’s ‘#MeToo me’ rich”

Back in 2017, famed TV star Bill Cosby began facing accusations of sexual abuse. A number of women came forward with disturbing allegations against the actor, with several accusing him of drugging and raping them during the prime of his career in the 80s and 90s. Cosby was just one of many powerful men who would be implicated in the #MeToo movement, which went viral after numerous entertainers spoke up about being sexually harassed and sometimes abused by big-time producer Harvey Weinstein. Ultimately, Cosby was found guilty of three counts of aggravated indecent assault and served 3 years of a 3 – 10 year sentence before the conviction was overturned.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was also caught up in the wrath of the #MeToo movement, though his involvement came later. Following a piece of legislation called the Adult Survivors Act being implemented last year, the media mogul was named in several sexual assault cases. The legislation allowed individuals to pursue civil cases against their alleged sexual abusers after the statute of limitations ran out. After a bombshell suit was filed against him by his ex-girlfriend Cassandra ‘Cassie’ Ventura, which ended in an 8-figure settlement, Diddy was hit with at least four more lawsuits that he’s still battling.

If West didn’t draw enough attention with those three he also compared himself to Jesus and name dropped Taylor Swift, who he has famously beefed with since he stole her mic at the 2009 VMA’s. West added elsewhere in the song:

“I made six Taylor Swift / Since I had the Rollie on my wrist / I’m the new Jesus, b*tch , I turn water to crist”

Taylor Swift

It seems the 24x Grammy winner was suggesting he’s “made” several pop stars during his career with the Swift reference. As far as the Jesus mention, West referenced the bible story of Jesus turning water to wine, except the musician appears to be able to turn water to “crist”, seemingly short for the popular champagne Cristal.
