Taylor Swift Says 2016 Feud w/ Kim Kardashian & Kanye West Was A ‘Manufactured’ Attempt To Take Away Her Career: ‘That Took Me Down Psychologically’

Pop star Taylor Swift recently reflected on one of the most intense moments of her stardom.

During a new profile interview, the songstress opened up about her heated standoff with former power couple Kim Kardashian and Kanye West and recalled how the situation caused her to withdraw from the world.

In case you’re unfamiliar, Taylor Swift, 33, was mentioned in a lyric on Kanye West’s 2016 record “Famous” where he raps:

“I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex/ Why? I made that b—h famous.”

Subsequently, West drew criticism for referring to the singer in such vulgar language. However, the “Donda” artist insisted that he had already spoken to Swift and that she enjoyed and approved of the song. His statements staunchly contradicted those of the “Karma” artist’s rep, who claimed she wasn’t aware nor approved of the lyric.

Not long after, West’s then-wife Kim Kardashian entered the mix in defense of her husband. The SKIMS founder shared a phone call between West and Swift where he seemingly shared the first part of the lyric to Swift’s approval. After the audio footage circulated on the internet, many took the stance of believing Swift accepted the song behind closed doors but attempted to gain sympathy by standing against West once the project was released. The singer was slammed online over the situation, causing her to accuse West and Kardashian of “illegally” recording the call before taking a year-long hiatus from social media and the press.Screen Shot 2016-07-18 at 6.55.51 AM

While Swift has mostly held back from directly speaking about the topic, though she did reference the situation in her 2017 album “Reputation,” she’s now setting the record straight. During the recent interview, the musician alleged that Kardashian edited the audio footage together in what she feels was a strategic attempt to assassinate her career. She stated:

“Make no mistake — my career was taken away from me. That took me down psychologically to a place I’ve never been before.”

Adding:

“You have a fully manufactured frame job, in an illegally recorded phone call, which Kim Kardashian edited and then put out to say to everyone that I was a liar.”

The 12x Grammy award winner went on to share that she lost trust for many people after the debacle, which led her into a temporary isolation period. She continued:

“I moved to a foreign country. I didn’t leave a rental house for a year. I was afraid to get on phone calls…I pushed away most people in my life because I didn’t trust anyone anymore. I went down really, really hard.”

It’s safe to say she fully recovered and then some from the situation, however. Today, Swift is seemingly at the top of her game. Her recent Era’s concert tour, which began in March of this year, rivaled the likes of superstar songstress Beyoncé, who kicked off her record-breaking “Renaissance” tour just a couple of months later. The musicians have seemed to become increasingly close, as they both attended one another’s concert film premieres released in the latter part of this year. In a heartfelt message, Swift referred to Beyoncé as a “guiding light” and thanked her for her influence as well as support of her new movie.

Meanwhile, West and Kardashian split back in 2021 after 6 years and 4 children together. Kardashian has gone on to secure her empire with her $4 billion apparel company which was recently named the official underwear partner of the NBA. While West has mostly been in isolation of his own after being labeled as antisemitic and losing his own billionaire status. Though he’s reportedly expected to release new music soon with Ty Dolla $ign.
