Usher Reportedly Got Paid $671 For His 2024 Super Bowl Halftime Performance, How He Plans To Turn The Money Into A Jaw-Dropping $100M
You may think the NFL would want to pay top dollar for Usher’s star-studded halftime show performance at the 2024 Super Bowl, but in reality, Usher received less than $1,000.
The R&B singer was only reportedly paid $671 for his historic performance. Even though that sounds like little, he will make much more money from elsewhere. Typically, halftime performers don’t get a paycheck from the NFL but reap financial benefits.
Because of this, Usher will reportedly pull in over $100 million in streaming sales, concert tickets, and endorsements.
He just extended dates to his Past, Present, Future tour, which kicks off in his hometown of Atlanta in August. He also released his ninth studio album ‘Coming Home’ just days before taking the stage for sport’s biggest night. As of publication, his 2004 hit single ‘Yeah!’ which closed out his performance with Ludacris and Lil Jon, is No. 3 on iTunes. On top of that, he’s the newest face of Kim Kardashian’s shapewear line SKIMS and starred in two commercials — one for BMW, the other for Uber Eats — that aired during the big game.
Several other artists also received similar financial benefits from their halftime performances.
In 2020, Shakira and Jennifer Lopez‘s halftime performance reportedly spiked Shakira’s streams by 230%, while Jennifer Lopez’s increased to 335%.
The same thing happened to Justin Timberlake in 2018. His halftime performance helped increase his sales by 534%.
But out of all those celebrity performances, according to multiple reports, Usher’s was the biggest in the history of streams.
According to the NFL, the musical icon’s halftime show is the most-watched Super Bowl Halftime performance in history, with an average of 129.3 million viewers.
With 121 million viewers, Rihanna’s 2023 performance during Super Bowl LVII is the second most-watched halftime show. Katy Perry’s Super Bowl XLIX performance places third with 121 million viewers, followed by Lady Gaga’s Super Bowl LI show, which 118 million viewers watched. The Super Bowl 50 collaboration featuring Coldplay, Beyoncé, and Bruno Mars caps off the top 5 with 115.5 million viewers.
