Update: Kodak Black’s Drug Possession Case Officially Dismissed After Judge Tosses Out Evidence Tampering Charge

Update #5 (April 19, 2024): Kodak Black has scored quite a victory in court. His drug possession case has officially been dismissed, according to multiple outlets.

A judge tossed out an evidence tampering charge against the rapper on Wednesday, April 17, ruling that prosecutors didn’t provide enough evidence to prove that he got rid of evidence when putting oxycodone in his mouth.

Now, the only thing standing in the case is a traffic violation.

Update #4: (Feb. 21, 2024): Kodak Black’s latest stint behind bars might finally be coming to an end.

The rapper’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, recently shared that his client should be released tonight. Cohen wrote on Instagram under an image of Kodak,

“Federal Probation terminated with time served. In the Southern District of Florida Judge Maritnez dismissed all substantive counts and Kodak plead to sole violation of failure to report police contact. Time served and he should be released by tonight.”

Update #3: (Jan. 24, 2024): Looks like rapper Kodak Black will be away for a little while longer.

The 26-year-old was hit with cocaine possession and evidence tampering charges in early December. However, Kodak said that it wasn’t cocaine in his possession but oxycodone, which he claimed to have a prescription for. He’s currently in federal custody.

According to a report from AllHipHop, the hearing to determine if Kodak violated the terms of his probation was scheduled for Monday (Jan. 22). However, due to the judge reportedly needing more time to make a decision, the final revocation hearing was moved to February 21, which means he’ll have to wait at least another four weeks to learn his fate.

Kodak’s lawyer filed a motion for the drug charges to be released. In a statement addressing his client’s latest arrest, he said,

“As stated when this new case first was filed, this was not cocaine and the officer was lying about his observations. We finally got the lab report…its oxycodone that Kodak had a prescription for and not an illegal substance. Knowing that the officer substantially misrepresented his observations, the Broward State Atty Office still filed the charge. Unbelievable and it will not be tolerated. This level of abuse of power by the arresting officer is disgusting. We will be seeking a new bond hearing and addressing these unethical practices by the police department.”

Update #2: (Dec. 18, 2023): 2023 seems to be ending a little rocky for Kodak Black.

As previously reported, earlier this month the rapper was arrested in Plantation, Florida on charges of possession of cocaine and tampering with physical evidence. After bailing out, Kodak, real name Bill Kapri, went live and reportedly claimed he does have a drug problem but he’s never done cocaine. He said,

“I was on lean. I was asleep in front of my family house, that’s it.”

And added,

“I’m working on myself.”

Kodak’s attorney also said that despite what authorities claimed, it was actually Percocet found in the rapper’s possession.

Unfortunately for the “Take One” artist, it appears that his time outside of jail was short-lived. Over the weekend news broke that Kodak was arrested in Miami. At this time, the reason for the arrest has yet to be revealed. However, it’s speculated that it has something to do with a violation of his probation.

Update #1: (Dec. 14, 2023): Kodak Black’s lawyer is pushing back against claims the rapper was found with cocaine in his possession last week.

As previously reported, On Dec. 7 the “No Flockin'” rapper was arrested in Florida on charges of possession of cocaine and tampering with physical evidence. Reportedly, authorities found Kodak, real name Bill Kapri, asleep behind the steering wheel of his vehicle with a white powder around his mouth. There was also allegedly a white pebble-like substance on the ground.

A test on the substances came back positive for cocaine, according to reports.

However, Kodak has since said it wasn’t cocaine police found and his lawyer, Bradford Cohen, is standing ten toes down behind the rapper. According to the legal professional, the entertainer had Percocet and not the powerfully addictive stimulant drug. He said,

“In this latest case, my belief is that the ‘rock’ this officer found when tested will be a Percocet, not cocaine. The test they do is a presumptive test for illegal substances. It just turns blue.”

Cohen continued, claiming that Kodak has unfortunately developed a dependency on Percocet since his time spent behind bars.

He added,

 “There will be a couple of different phases of this treatment in order for him to get better. You have to treat the root problem of the dependency and that’s what is going to happen. We are going to alleviate dependency,”

After being released on bond Kodak went live and reportedly claimed he does have a problem abusing Percocets but he’s never done cocaine.

Original Story: (Dec. 7, 2023): Kodak Black’s lawyer, unfortunately, has another drug case to fight.

According to reports, Bill Kapri, professionally known as Kodak Black, was arrested on Wednesday (Dec. 6) in Plantation, Florida on charges of possession of cocaine and tampering with physical evidence. The rapper is scheduled to appear before a judge sometime today (Dec. 7). More details surrounding the arrest have yet to be made public.

However, this isn’t the only legal issue Kodak Black has on his plate right now. As we previously covered, last month the 26-year-old’s legal team filed a motion to get his prescription drug case dismissed. You may recall that in July 2022, Kodak was arrested by Florida Highway Patrol after a traffic stop for an alleged tinted window violation resulted in 31 white tablets – believed to be oxycodone – and nearly $75,000 in cash being found in his vehicle. He was ultimately charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance and another for trafficking oxycodone.

He was released after posting a $75,000 bond. The recent motion filed on behalf of the entertainer claimed that the pills found were not oxycodone as police said, but instead Tylenol. His attorney is fighting to have the entire case dismissed.
