Chris Brown Hit With $1.7 Million Judgment For Unpaid Popeyes Restaurant Loan, Could Risk Losing His Property If He Fails To Repay It

It is time to pay up!

A Los Angeles court hit Chris Brown with a $1.7 million judgment after the singer and dancer allegedly failed to pay an outstanding Popeyes restaurant loan.

According to Radar Online, City National Bank, a Georgia-based company, filed the lawsuit in California because that’s where Chris Brown lives. The lawsuit claims the loan was given to a collective of people who planned to buy the Popeyes restaurants, including Chris Brown and music producer The Dream, to purchase the restaurants, but it remains unpaid.

Since 2018, the bank has reportedly been trying to collect on the loan but has yet to succeed. According to the lawsuit, the money owed is more than $2 million in unpaid principal and interest.

Because Brown failed to respond to the default judgment filed in August 2023, City National Bank asked the court to register a $1,314 367.40 judgment against the R&B sensation. Then, in September 2023, the bank won the lawsuit filed in Georgia and was awarded $1,760,654.11 in the case against the singer and actor. Brown has 30 days to respond to the case, or it will be final. According to the court filing, the megastar could lose his assets, including his property at his estate, if he fails to repay the loan.

The Dream wasn’t named in the default judgment.

The Dream

This is just one of the latest lawsuits Brown faces. The singer is currently fighting a $71 million dog attack lawsuit after his dog allegedly attacked a housekeeper. According to the lawsuit, no one came to the housekeeper’s side despite the worker “screaming in terror and calling out for help.”

The Jane Doe plaintiff also accused Brown of taking the dog 600 miles away from the alleged attack to have it euthanized to “destroy evidence and flee the scene.”
