Mathew Knowles Pens Sweet Letter To Blue Ivy After She Used Friend’s Criticism To Improve Performance On Beyoncé’s Renaissance Tour: ‘Chase Your Dreams’
Blue Ivy Carter’s grandfather, Mathew Knowles, is shining a spotlight on her after she navigated very public criticism.

In “Renaissance: A Film by Beyonce,” which hit theaters on Dec. 2023, Beyoncé shared that she and rap icon Jay-Z’s eldest daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, dealt with internet criticism about her first performances during the record-breaking global Renaissance Tour. Instead of letting it impact her confidence, Beyonce said her daughter opted to train more and improve her skills throughout the tour.

Now, Mathew Knowles is affirming the 12-year-old Brown Skin Girl singer. On Tuesday (March 12), he wrote a heartfelt letter to Blue Ivy Carter on Instagram, recalling a time she was practicing for the tour following a friend’s negative comments about her first performance.

Mathew Knowles shared how “proud” he was of his granddaughter because she “wanted to put in the work to get better.”
He added,
“It’s clear that you have an extraordinary Knowles spirit, and I am confident that you will find your true passion in life. Whether it’s in music, art, science, business, or any other field, I hope that you have the courage to pursue it wholeheartedly. Whatever path you choose, I hope it brings you fulfillment, joy, and a deep sense of purpose.”

The Alabama native concluded his praise with sound advice to the 12-year-old,
“Blue Ivy, I hope you may continue to embrace life with the same determination and willingness to learn that you possess now. Your journey is just beginning, and I have no doubt that you will leave an lasting mark on the world. Chase your dreams, follow your heart, and always believe in the extraordinary potential that lies within you.”

You may recall, Knowles was the manager of the girl group Destiny Child, which featured his daughter Beyonce and fellow singers Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams before they decided to pursue solo careers. Even after the group parted ways, Knowles reportedly managed Beyonce’s career until 2011.

Last year, Knowles told Entertainment Tonight that he’d love to see Destiny’s Child reunite, adding,
“It’s a decision that the ladies would have to make. And I would certainly, certainly support that decision as I still manage Destiny’s Child. I would love to see that as well.”
