Popular TikToker Slammed After Asking Followers To Donate Thousands Of Dollars To Pay For Matchmaking Service: ‘This Is So Embarrassing, Ridiculous & Out Of Touch’
Times are hard for a lot of people right now, including those looking for love.
A rising TikTok star named Winnifred ‘Winnie’ Parker has become a hot topic across multiple social media platforms as people have started to call her out for asking for monetary donations to find the love of her life. In the controversial video, which the 30-year-old recently removed from her TikTok account, Winnie Parker explained why she started the GoFundMe profile, saying,
“I have been through hell and back with dating; and I’m so tired of using the dating apps, I’m so tired of doing the same thing and being let down and being disappointed. …I really want to hire a matchmaker. Also, because I literally live in the worst city for dating, statistically, and I feel like a matchmaker will be able to weed out the men that are not serious [and] not financially stable.”

She continued,
“The only thing that’s getting in my way is that hiring a matchmaker is actually extremely expensive. I am a single mom, so unfortunately, I can’t go spend all my money on that.”
The GoFundMe notes that Winnie Parker is seeking to raise $3,000 for her matchmaker dreams, and at the time of this report, she’s received $225.

However, it’s speculated she lowered the goal amount after receiving backlash as the GoFundMe’s bio says,
“With your generous donations, I hope to raise $8,000 to cover the costs of a few months in the matchmaking program. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings me closer to my dream of finding love.”

Many have taken to TikTok and other platforms to slam Parker for asking for financial help in her love quest. One person wrote on the ap formerly known as Twitter,
“Like this is so embarrassing, ridiculous and out of touch. Maybe black women don’t wanna support you bc you’re a f*cking clown!”

Another person noted,
“she wants a matchmaker to help her weed out men who aren’t financially stable but had to create a gofundme in order to afford the matchmaker in the first place…”

Parker has since made a follow-up video, explaining she’s not “desperate for a man” but she understands why critics deemed the fundraiser as “crazy” because there are “bigger issues” in the world. The GoFundMe is still live, but the influencer continued,
“I am going to just try to save the money myself. …if you want to help, that’s fine.”
She added,
“I will not be embarrassed for wanting a companion. I’m not going to be embarrassed for going after what I want and finding love.”
