Original Story (Feb. 27, 2024): Taylor Swift’s team is setting the record straight after the singer’s dad was accused of assaulting a photographer in Australia.
According to police, Ben McDonald claimed the singer’s dad, Scott Swift, allegedly punched him in the face on the Sydney waterfront after the father and daughter were leaving a yacht.
In response to those claims, a Taylor Swift spokesperson wanted to clarify things. The singer’s team said,
“Two individuals were aggressively pushing their way towards Taylor, grabbing at her security personnel, and threatening to throw a female staff member into the water.”
According to the New South Wales Police Force spokesperson, police confirmed they were investigating an alleged assault of a 51-year-old man by a 71-year-old man but did not release any names.
Ben McDonald, the alleged victim, said he decided to report the attack to police despite not being seriously injured.
Taylor Swift wrapped up her final of four Eras Tour shows in Sydney, Australia, on Monday (Feb. 26), and it was one of the enormous legs of her touring career on the continent. The pop superstar played for more than 600,000 fans across seven shows.
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce attended the first show in Sydney, and Swift changed the lyrics of her song “Karma.” She sang, “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs” instead of “Karma is the guy on the screen.”
The ‘Cruel Summer‘ singer’s Eras Tour will now head to Singapore, with the star set to play six nights at the National Stadium in Kallang starting March 2.
