LeVar Burton Set To Host New ‘Trivial Pursuit’ Game Show After Being Passed Up For ‘Jeopardy!’
Actor LeVar Burton has secured a new job!
According to a report from TMZ, the “Reading Rainbow” star has landed a new hosting role for an upcoming “Trivial Pursuit” game series. In addition to his hosting duties, he will also serve as one of the show’s executive producers. Reportedly, LeVar Burton and his team have been in negotiations with The CW since last fall to finalize the deal. Now that the entertainer has signed on the dotted line, it’s reported that he will be in New York tomorrow (Apr. 11) at the Nexstar/CW upfronts to officially share the exciting news!

LeVar Burton’s new gig comes after he was seemingly snubbed for the hosting role of “Jeopardy!” As previously reported, a few years ago, Burton expressed his interest in becoming the face of the popular long-running quiz competition series following the passing of Alex Trebek. He even had a chance to serve as the guest host from July 26-30, 2021. Many called for production to give Burton the full-time hosting position. However, the role ultimately went to someone else.

In a previous interview, Burton addressed the final verdict, stating,
“The crazy thing is that when you set your sights on something, they say be careful of what you wish for because what I found out is that it wasn’t the thing that I wanted after all. What I wanted was to compete. I mean, I wanted the job, right, but then, when I didn’t get it, it was, like ‘Well, okay, what’s next?”
He added,
“The opportunities that have come my way as a result of not getting that gig, I couldn’t have dreamt it up. If you had given me a pen and paper and said, ‘Well, so what do you want this to really look like?’ If it doesn’t include ‘Jeopardy,’ I wouldn’t have been this generous to myself.”
