Brian McKnight Slammed For Calling His Biological Children A ‘Product Of Sin’

Singer Brian McKnight is still at odds with his biological children.

It’s no secret that the 17x Grammy-nominated artist doesn’t have the best relationship with all of his offspring. He’s the father of 7, including two stepchildren with his wife Leilani McKnight. In 2019, two of the entertainer’s biological children, Briana and Brian Jr., slammed him for allegedly abandoning them to raise his step-kids. Despite denying their claims, his relationship with them still appears to be strained.

In a new segment for his socials called “Weekly Replies,” Brian McKnight spoke on a post he shared on Instagram about his stepdaughter Julia McPhee. In the clip, he referred to Julia as his “one and only daughter.” The “Anytime” singer added,

“Julia understands the scriptures. Exodus 20:12, where it says, and I quote, ‘Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.'”

Naturally, the comments filled with people reminding him of the fact that he’s Briana’s father as well. Responding to one critic who slammed him for allegedly disowning his children from his former relationships, Brian McKnight wrote,

“God wasn’t taking [SIC] about children that are the product of sin which these are 2. I didn’t raise them their mothers did 3. Know the whole story before quoting the Bible 4. Take your inaccurate negativity off my page and try being happy”

McKnight shares two sons — Brian Jr. and Niko — with his first wife. Briana is his only biological daughter. Julia and Jack McPhee are his stepchildren. Unfortunately, the celeb and his wife Leilani experienced a pregnancy loss in 2022. In January 2023, the couple welcomed a baby boy named Brian Kainoa Makoa McKnight.
