Tamar Braxton & K. Michelle Reignite Feud After Tamar Addresses ‘People Who Should Not Have Been Singing Black Country Music’ + Denies She Was Talking About K. Michelle
Looks like the decade-long feud between Tamar Braxton and K. Michelle is still in full swing!
Tamar Braxton sparked speculation that she shaded fellow singer K. Michelle while discussing Beyoncé’s latest venture into country music with her Cowboy Carter album.
During a recent interview with the We Sound Crazy podcast, Tamar Braxton praised Beyoncé for her bold step into the genre, highlighting the importance of Black representation in country music and expressing pride in the recognition Black artists are receiving following the success of Cowboy Carter.
However, the conversation took a subtle turn when Braxton mentioned some Black country artists she’s been listening to recently. Without naming names, she remarked,
“It was a couple of people who should not have been singing country Black music, that was awful and it was concerning for me.”
Pressed to elaborate, Braxton chose not to divulge specific names, stating firmly,
“If you’re going to step into a new genre of music and represent us, then you gotta represent.”

These remarks have since ignited speculation among fans and media outlets, with many interpreting Braxton’s comments as a veiled reference to K. Michelle, who has explored various musical styles, including country.
Responding to the speculation, K. Michelle took to X (formerly Twitter) and fired back, referencing The Muppets character Janice.
“How many times are you going to keep calling for something you can’t handle upon its arrival? Huh Janice?”

To add insult to injury, K. Michelle also stated:
“I spy with my little eye, a leprechaun in my DMs sighhhh”

Some fans were convinced she was alluding to Braxton’s fiancé Jeremy “JR” Robinson DMing her.
In response to K. Michelle’s messages, Braxton denied any shade towards K. Michelle. She wrote,
“I wasn’t speaking about you. I would have said your name. I was speaking of country ‘black’ music that I have heard before that I didn’t enjoy. I wish you the best on all your future endeavors. I only want to beef with the devil. The End.”

The roots of this feud trace back to K. Michelle’s revelations about her contentious relationship with Memphitz, a record executive, on Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta. Braxton, who was friends with Toya Wright (Memphitz’s wife) at the time, hinted on Twitter that K. Michelle’s storyline was a fairytale, essentially calling it lies.
Since then, the two artists have exchanged insults publicly, with K. Michelle famously referring to Braxton as a muppet. This insult gained notoriety when Braxton addressed it on her talk show, The Real, opening up about the hurtful comment.
Just when we thought the feud had died down, The Muppets nickname persists. Let us know your thoughts!
