Gayle King Jokingly Shoots Her Shot w/ Lenny Kravitz As She Asks If He’s Dating Anyone: ‘Can I Beat Her A**?’
Looks like Gayle King wants all the smoke with any woman romantically involved with Lenny Kravitz.
The TV broadcaster joked about beating up anyone who calls themself dating the rock star during a recent interview on Good Morning America.
Gayle King, 59, asked Lenny Kravitz, 59, about his dating life while the two discussed his forthcoming 12th studio album Blue Electric Light out May 26th. Inquiring whether or not the musician is currently seeing anyone, Gayle King stated:
“Do you have a significant other in your life? And can I beat her a** if she is?”
As both of them laughed, King added:
“Did I say that out loud?…And I’m non-violent, Lenny Kravitz!”
Lenny Kravitz answered the initial question, revealing that he’s open to finding love though he’s presently single. He stated:
“You know, when you desire something you’re looking for it, right? But I find that when you don’t look is when you find it…And I’m at a place where I’ve said this for several years, ‘I’m ready. I’m ready. I’m ready.’ I wasn’t ready. I thought I was ready, right? But I can say that I’ve never felt how I feel now.”
Typically Kravitz has been one to keep his private life away from the public eye, though he was famously married to A Different World star Lisa Bonet from 1987 to 1993. The pair reportedly met at a concert before getting hitched and welcomed their now-famous daughter Zoë Kravitz in 1988.
King was previously married to attorney William Bumpus, whom she shares her adult children Kirby and Will with. The TV personality opened up about her current dating struggles during an interview earlier this year, admitting that her friendship with her billionaire bestie Oprah Winfrey has caused some men to be intimidated by her. She stated:
“Somebody said to me once, ‘Gayle, look at your shoes … look at your bag, look at your coat. You’re friends with Oprah [Winfrey].’ A guy looks at that and says, ‘I can’t compete with that…But my thing is, it’s not a matter of competing. I’m not looking for someone to compete.”
King also shared one of her more recent off-putting dating experiences, telling the story of one man who was bold enough to ask her for money after they had only been dating for a couple of months. The celebrity admitted that while she could empathize with the situation, it definitely left her with a sour taste about the man.
King went on in that interview to share that she’s looking for a man with “a sense of humor, kindness” as well as “proper grammar,” which seems to be attributes Kravitz carries with grace.
