Singer PinkPantheress Receives Mixed Reactions After Saying There’s No Need For A Bridge Or Repeated Verses In Music
PinkPantheress’ songs are short and sweet.
The 23-year-old UK native’s career took off in 2021 thanks to a few of her tracks going viral on TikTok. Last year, her 2022 single “Boy’s a Liar” was remixed with rapper Ice Spice, 24, helping take the tune to a whole new level of success by earning PinkPantheress, born Victoria Walker, her first entry on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. In 2023, she also dropped her first studio album Heaven Knows, which features 13 songs, with most being around 2 minutes and 30 seconds long.
If you’re a fan of PinkPantheress then you already know that short tracks are nothing new for her. During a recent interview, PinkPantheress opened up about her signature sound and why she’s seemingly against making longer tracks. She expressed,
“A song doesn’t need to be longer than 2 minutes 30 [seconds], in my opinion. We don’t need to repeat a verse, we don’t need to have a bridge – we don’t need it! We don’t need a long outro.”
PinkPantheress’ formula for making a song seems to be working just fine for her. However, others have shared on X why they disagree with her statements. One person wrote,
“Longer songs have the potential to explore deeper emotions and themes.”
Another person said,
“I feel like this is an excuse to be lazy and not put effort into her music”
Some did agree with PinkPantheress, with one fan adding to the online dialogue,
“It’s her style it’s worked so well for her bc her songs and short and catchy she’s for vibes not for deep storytelling you get it or you don’t”
