‘All American: Homecoming’ Canceled After 3 Seasons
Disappointing news for fans of All American: Homecoming.
Reports recently confirmed that the series has officially been axed at the CW and will end following the conclusion of its 3rd season.
The news was reportedly shared with the cast and crew members yesterday (Tuesday, June 4th) before it was released to the public earlier today. First airing back in 2022, the sports drama follows tennis player Simone Hicks, played by Geffri Maya, and baseball prodigy Damon Sims, played by Peyton Alex Smith, and their friend group as they navigate life at fictional Atlanta HBCU Bringston University. Other cast members include Kelly Jenrette, Cory Hardrict, Sylvester Powell, Camille Hyde, Mitchell Edwards, Netta Walker, and Rhoyle Ivy King. The show’s predecessor/first installment All American, first aired on the CW in 2018 and was recently renewed for a 7th season.
Reacting to the announcement of the series cancellation, executive producer/showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll reportedly stated:
“I’m devastated to learn that All American: Homecoming will not be moving forward with more episodes and that this new season premiering in July will be our final one. However, I am so very grateful to have worked with this incredible cast and crew, led by Geffri Maya, to bring the authentic HBCU experience to your screens for the last three seasons.”
She added:
“We made this show for the culture and thank our loyal audience and fans for taking this ride with us. We made this show so that our community, our kids (and their dreams), could be seen and celebrated every week and we are proud to say we accomplished that mission… Especially with this exciting final season which we can’t wait to show you all. So with a heavy but proud heart, I give one final shoutout to our favorite Bringston Lions!”
Speculations that the show might have been at risk of cancellation have reportedly been ongoing. Reports note that the show’s budget was cut significantly last year and even more so this year. Season 3 of All American: Homecoming is reportedly set to hit TV screens on July 8th.
