Update: Madonna Concert Delay Lawsuit Dismissed

Update#2: (June 20, 2024): Madonna has one less lawsuit to worry about.

As reported, the 65-year-old was hit with a class action lawsuit in January by fans Michael Fellows and Jonathan Hadden for reportedly starting late for all three nights of her Celebration Tour stop in New York. Earlier this month, Madonna responded to the suit, arguing it should be dismissed because her true fans are aware she “typically takes the stage well after the ticketed event time.”

Well, it seems like Lady Luck is on Madonna’s side. According to recent reports, the plaintiffs voluntarily dismissed their suit with prejudice. It was highly speculated that Madonna reached some sort of settlement with the disappointed fans. However, sources shared with TMZ that there was no agreement made to drop the case between Madonna and the plaintiffs, and the men dismissed the lawsuit on their own accord.

Update#1: (June 4, 2024): Madonna is fighting back against one of the lawsuits she’s facing over her Celebration Tour.

As previously reported, Madonna was hit with a class action lawsuit in January by two men– Michael Fellows and Jonathan Hadden – for reportedly starting late for all three nights of her New York tour stop. Madonna was scheduled to take the stage at 8:30 p.m. but allegedly didn’t start the show until 10:30. The suit reportedly claims that the late starts constitute a “wanton exercise in false advertising, negligent misrepresentation, and unfair and deceptive trade practices.”

However, it seems Madonna disagrees and claims that her true fans know what to expect when seeing her in person. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the “Like a Prayer” artist argues,

“If a fan is familiar enough with Madonna’s concert history to know her performances run for two hours and fifteen minutes, that fan would surely know that Madonna typically takes the stage well after the ticketed event time (after an opening act, set transition, and so on) and plays late into the night.”

Madonna wants the judge to dismiss the lawsuit.

Original Story: (Jan. 18, 2024): Concertgoers are fed up and fighting back.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, two men – named Michael Fellows and Jonathan Hadden – are spearheading a class action lawsuit against Madonna for reportedly starting late for all three nights of her New York tour stop. The plaintiffs name Live Nation in the lawsuit as well.

As previously reported, after a delay due to a health scare, Madonna kicked off her world “Celebration Tour” in October 2023 in London. The musical event made it state-side a few months later in December, debuting for her American fans at the Barclays Center. What was meant to be a few nights of fun, seemingly turned into fans of Madonna being frustrated by her tardiness. Fellows and Hadden claim in their suit that the “Material Girl” artist was scheduled to start the concerts at 8:30 p.m., however, things didn’t begin until a couple of hours later at 10:30 p.m.

The suit reportedly states that the late starts constitute a “wanton exercise in false advertising, negligent misrepresentation, and unfair and deceptive trade practices.”

The plaintiffs also note how much they spent to secure tickets to see their fav live, claiming they paid $155.90 and $292.50. They’re seeking unspecified damages.

Being sued for starting shows late is nothing new for Madonna. She reportedly faced lawsuits for the same thing in 2019 and 2020. However, as far as why she was late in December, it’s said the concerts were delayed due to sound issues.
