Ryan Garcia Announces Retirement, Says ‘Boxing Will Be Alright Without Me’ + Boxing Star May Pursue Acting & Singing

Boxer Ryan Garcia is back in the headlines, this time announcing his retirement from boxing.

On June 19, the 25-year-old athlete took to social media to vent about a few hardships he’s facing, including a doping scandal, being sued, and an impending divorce.

Taking to X, Ryan Garcia wrote,

“Mom has cancer. I’m being sued. My supplements were tainted. Going thru a divorce. Always GETTING SH** TALKED on the internet FOR YEARS. Devin asking for my victory to be taken away. I’m getting hit with everything. I STILL LOVE GOD, HE IS EVERYTHING”

He continued,

“Boxing will be alright without me. But still sucks. I was fun in the game, and it was fun to punch people.”

Seemingly on the fence about retiring, Ryan Garcia stated,

“I MAY RETIRE. I’M DONE WITH THIS GAME.”

However, it seems he made up his mind rather quickly, as 22 minutes later he wrote,

“I’m officially retired.”

Garcia further explained by saying,

“There is so much corruption I’m over it. I may do acting or singing. I’ll still be training but I’m hurt and done with it and everyone.”

This all follows a series of dramatic moments, including an incident in May 2024, where it was revealed that Ryan Garcia’s B-samples from drug tests conducted the day before and the day of his victorious April 20th fight against Devin Haney tested positive for the banned substance Ostarine. As a result, Garcia could face suspension by the NY Commission.

The lawsuit followed a social media rant from Garcia, in which he slammed Logan Paul and his drink company. One tweet alleged that the boxer tested positive for Ostarine after consuming PRIME:

“I drank prime and I tested positive for ostarine”
