Ben Affleck Recalls ‘F***ing Bananas’ Moment Between Wife Jennifer Lopez & Her Fans, Says He ‘Always Looks Mad’ In Photos Because He Doesn’t Like Attention
Movie star Ben Affleck is surprisingly shy when he’s not performing for a role on the big-screen.
The actor recently opened up about why his wife Jennifer Lopez’s level of fame makes him uncomfortable, admitting that it sometimes disrupts his peace.
Ben Affleck, 51, reportedly discussed the matter with Kevin Hart on a new episode of his Peacock talk series Hart to Heart. The Gone Girl star was speaking about his marriage to superstar singer/actress Jennifer Lopez, 54, when he recalled witnessing times her fan base has gone crazy for her. He stated:
“We went somewhere with [Jennifer]—I can’t remember because she’s so famous, and she creates this—people love her, and she really represents something important to people.”
He continued:
“[To me,] people are like, ‘Hey, I like your movie,’ and then they’re like ‘AAAHHHH! J-LO!…It’s amazing, you know what I mean?”
The Oscar winner went on to tell one specific story, recounting the time they took their blended family for a night out in New York and had to walk several blocks to their location. Affleck is father to three children, Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12, all who he shares with his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, while Lopez shares twins Max and Emme, 16, with her ex-husband Marc Anthony.
Affleck explained that he really got a glimpse of Lopez‘s level of stardom after they got out of their vehicle that evening, stating:
“We get out of the car, we were going to a play, and I was like, ‘f*** it, babe, we’re going to be late, we gotta walk a block and a half.’ [Lopez] was like, ‘Alright,’ she didn’t say s**t…We get out with her, all the kids, through Times Square, and the s**t was like f**n’ bananas.’”
He continued:
“I was like, ‘Oh my God.’ There was a lady, she was smoking weed, in a full purple skintight suit—she’s a heavy lady—and she starts running backwards filming, going ‘J-LO!!’”
While Lopez may be used to that level of fandom, Affleck expressed that the ceaseless attention does play a role in his perceived grumpy attitude. He added:
“I don’t like a lot of attention. This is why people see me and they’re like, ‘Why is this dude always mad?’ Because someone had their camera sticking in my face, and I’m like, ‘OK, here we go.’”
Though Affleck didn’t mention it during the recent interview, it could be speculated that Lopez’s stardom plays a role in mounting tension between the couple. As we’ve been covering, reports have indicated that their two year marriage is headed towards divorce after rekindling their romance/engagement from nearly two decades ago. The pair reportedly put their $60 million mansion up for sale recently and sources claim Affleck has been living in a rental property for the past couple of months.
Neither have given any updates about the status of their marriage publicly at this time.
