Aries Spears Urges Black Men To End ‘Homophobic’ Stigmas Regarding Colonoscopies: ‘Get This Done!’

Comedian Aries Spears is urging Black men to overcome homophobic stigmas and get potentially lifesaving colonoscopies.

In a recent Instagram post, Aries Spears, 49, shared a video from a hospital bed, dressed in a gown, addressing the importance of the procedure.

In the video, Aries Spears said,

“I just got done doing my colonoscopy. Public service announcement! Black men, get this done! I know we grew up homophobic in the black community. We confuse getting health exams cause a doctor put his finger in your ass with homosexuality. Knock it off… get the colonoscopy.

He continued,

“They put you to sleep, you wake up… and you don’t even know your booty has been tampered with.”

His Instagram caption to the video echoed similar sentiments:

“I must have canceled this appointment a dozen times cause I was thinking they was gonna shove a 1980’s sized VHS VIDEO CAMERA up my a** but wit the anesthesia I was put into a MIKE TYSON KNOCK OUT TYPE SLEEP! BLACK MEN GET……THIS….DONE!!”

Spears also shared that doctors found two polyps during his colonoscopy, saying,

“I had two polyps removed that coulda been cancerous had I ignored it!”

He admitted to previously rescheduling his appointment out of fear and cited homophobia in the Black community as a significant barrier preventing Black men from getting health screenings.
