Singer Tayla Parx Calls Out Normani For Not Crediting Her For Work On Debut Album ‘Dopamine’: ‘Just Dropped My Sh*t & Left Me Off’
Singer Tayla Parx Calls Out Normani For Not Crediting Her For Work On Debut Album ‘Dopamine’: ‘Just Dropped My Sh*t & Left Me Off’
Tayla Parx shockingly learned she helped craft a song featured on Normani’s debut album, a month after its release.
Last month, following the highly anticipated June 14 drop of her first solo project, Normani sat for an interview with media personality Zach Sang to give more insight into Dopamine. At one point during the chat, they broke down how the 6th song on the album, “Insomnia,” came to be. According to Normani, the tune was initially recorded years ago during the pandemic and almost never saw the light of day as it was removed from the album. However, thanks to her new management, the song was eventually added back to the tracklist.
Normani also confirmed that “Insomnia” was produced by Victoria Monét and features vocal production from Brandy. In addition, she noted how singer Tayla Parx and songwriting team Stargate helped the song come to fruition. However, it seems that Tayla Parx not only had no clue that she was on the album but also allegedly wasn’t given credit for her work.
In a post shared to X today (July 15) she reposted Normani’s interview with Zach Sang and claimed,
“It’s crazy cause I haven’t listened to the album yet and this is how I’m finding out I’m on it … no credit , no business done . People that I’ve known forever. Just dropped my sh*t and left me off lol okayyy! #taylamade”
The post received mixed reactions, some claiming she should have reached out to Normani personally, and others arguing the way Tayla Parx revealed the situation was valid. At the time of this report, it does not look like Normani or her team has addressed the allegation.
