Odell Beckham Jr. Celebrates Victory Against Nike In $20 Million Lawsuit, Shoe Company Says It Doesn’t Owe Him Anything

NFL star Odell Beckham Jr. is seemingly happy with the result of his $20 million lawsuit against Nike.

The football player took to social media to celebrate his victory after the case concluded recently. However, the shoe company has claimed it doesn’t owe him a monetary award from the case.

Yesterday (Thursday, July 18th), Odell Beckham Jr. shared a picture of what appears to be the legal team that represented him during the trial, writing the caption:

“JUST DO……RIGHT @nike . I wanna take this moment to thank God first and foremost thank you Heavenly Father. I wanna thank my team for every hour they have spent preparing on this case. I wanna thank the jury for simply doing what’s right in a world full of wrong.”

He continued:

“my message to whoever needs this is, STAND UP FOR WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN! JUSTICE WAS SERVED!!!”

While the 31-year-old’s post may suggest that he secured a total win against his former brand partners, reps from Nike have reportedly suggested otherwise. In a statement about the case, they wrote:

“With this verdict, all of Mr. Beckham’s claims have been decided against him without any monetary award. The decision confirmed that Nike complied with its commitments. Nike is grateful to the jury and the Court for their careful attention to this case.”

Turns out, the court ruled that neither Nike nor Odell Beckham Jr. breached the terms of their contractual agreement, which both parties claimed in their lawsuit against the other. As we reported back in 2022, Beckham was the first to take legal action and sued Nike for $20 million for breach of contract, alleging it didn’t hold up its obligations after he chose to stay with the brand instead of signing a deal with Adidas.

Nike responded to the claims with a countersuit, denying all allegations and suing Beckham for breach of contract. It argued that the NFL star violated the terms of their agreement with illegal customizations on their products, and violated an NDA when he publicly shared the terms of their initial agreement.

After a few hours of deliberation, however, the court reportedly ruled that neither side was guilty of contract breach, and instead, both sides won as defendants but lost as plaintiffs. Neither is obligated to pay anything to the other.
