Lee Daniels Praises ‘Real Friendship’ w/ Mo’Nique After Years-Long Fall Out
Lee Daniels is setting the record straight about his “real” friendship with Mo’Nique.
The filmmaker recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a photo of himself and actress Mo’Nique enjoying dinner together, all smiles and holding hands.

In the post, Lee Daniels praised his friendship with Mo’Nique as “real” and claimed it has withstood the test of time:
“At dinner here on our first press day for The Deliverance, it got me reflecting on the 25-year friendship I’ve had with the actor @moworldwide. Like any REAL friendship, it’s one that’s stood the test of times. AND BOY HAVE OUR TIMES BEEN TESTED.”
Lee Daniels is likely referencing his public falling out with Mo’Nique, which began with the 2009 film Precious. Mo’Nique had claimed that she was blackballed by Daniels and other prominent figures in Hollywood after she refused to participate in press events for the film without compensation.

In 2022, Mo’Nique and Lee Daniels publicly reconciled, with Daniels appearing on stage at Mo’Nique’s comedy show, embracing her, and offering a public apology.
