‘The Bachelorette’ Contestant Grant Ellis Named As Next Star Of ‘The Bachelor’: ‘Let’s Make It Count’

Grant Ellis took to social media to celebrate the news, sharing an image of the announcement and writing:

“So thankful for this opportunity, and this shot at love …. Let’s make it count”

In a short introduction clip, Ellis shared that he’s “excited” to head the next season, adding that he’s looking for a love that’s “kind and understanding,” and a partner who is:

“adventurous…affectionate…loving,”

Reportedly, Ellis is a former professional basketball player turned day trader living in Houston. The self-proclaimed “mama boy” made his reality show debut during the current season of The Bachelorette, starring the show’s first Asian lead Jenn Tran. On yesterday’s episode (Monday, August 12th), the 26-year-old chose to end Ellis‘ bid for her heart, admitting that while he’s “hot,” she couldn’t see herself going home to meet his family.

Though disappointed about his elimination, Ellis says he’s hopeful that Mrs. right is out there, stating:

“But when life knocks you down you have to be able to pivot. So, I ended up getting into the finance field, and it’s been off to the races from there…The only thing I’m missing right know is my person.”

Ellis will be the second Black man to lead the show since its 2002 debut, behind Matt James who became the first back in 2021. The next season of The Bachelor is expected to air in January 2025 on ABC.
