Hurricane Chris Slams 50 Cent For Not Including Louisiana Artists In Shreveport Festival, Sparking Heated Social Media Debate

Hurricane Chris isn’t holding back in his latest criticism of 50 Cent.

The Louisiana rapper took to Instagram to call out 50 Cent for allegedly failing to book any Louisiana artists for his recent Humor & Harmony Festival in Shreveport, La., which took place from Aug. 8th to 11th.

In a fiery video, Hurricane Chris expressed his frustration, saying,

“How the f*** you supposed to be a n**** that’s a part of hip hop? You throw a motherf***** concert in Louisiana and don’t book no Louisiana legends and put no bankroll in no Louisiana legend’s pockets? But you pay the police a half a million dollars? What type of b**** ass s*** is that?”

He continued his tirade, accusing 50 Cent of exploiting his city:

“N****, you ain’t f****** with my city, n****; you’re taking advantage of my city, n****, ‘cause s*** is cheap and s*** costs way less than where you’re from. And y’all stupid, slow motherf****** are so crazy that y’all gonna let this n**** come down here and not show no love to Louisiana. These n***** ain’t book no Louisiana artists.”

Chris also expressed concern about the funds being allocated to law enforcement rather than the community:

“That f**** money could’ve gone to anything to help the motherf**** youth. We don’t need more money invested in the police, n****. We need more motherf****** money invested into the community.”

In the caption accompanying his video, Hurricane Chris elaborated further, writing,

“The people around @50cent are from New York; even the ones who live in Shreveport, they are attempting to gate-keep a person who could have really made a difference. I challenge you to let me show you our community and the things that the rotten people around you have hidden. We are the fourth-worst educated state in America; murder happens daily and our youth is lost. None of the people around you know what the city needs—not even the fake nonprofits.”

50 Cent didn’t take long to respond. On X (formerly Twitter), he mocked Chris, writing,

“Hurricane Flex. Boy, your s*** is wack. The f*** you think you are, @FredoBang? Your s*** gets no play in my ride. LOL.”

Hurricane Chris wasn’t done either, quickly firing back with another Instagram video, where he said,

“You big dummy, you just proved my point. You don’t know s*** about the city. Shreveport… the n**** just said I got one song. N****, I got all the way back to Five Ent. That’s how I know you don’t know s*** about the city, homie. You’re just a culture vulture a** n**** that seen some s*** for sale and you wanted to go profit.”

The back-and-forth didn’t stop there. Social media users quickly weighed in on the drama, with one X user siding with Hurricane Chris, stating,

“Hurricane Chris is absolutely right. Can’t just come to Louisiana and not show love to the people and the artists that came out of Louisiana. You know that’s just not how we roll.”

However, another user disagreed, writing,

“So why didn’t all these other so-called artists purchase the same land and build production studios like 50 Cent since the land is so cheap? But let’s get mad at 50 for providing jobs within that same community y’all been living in. But go off, Hurricane Chris.”

This isn’t the first time 50 Cent has faced criticism for the Humor & Harmony festival. Recently, comedian Luenell also called him out for not booking any female comics for the event.

In a video interview, Luenell remarked,

“I want to say that the game is still so misogynistic because I just heard about this Comedy Festival that my dear friend 50 is having right now… and there were several comedians on the plane, but not one female comic. Not one.”

Luenell added that while she was “booked and busy” and couldn’t have performed, she felt there were many other deserving female comedians who were overlooked.

In response, 50 Cent took to Instagram, posting,

“Proof you can’t make everybody happy. Love Luenell’s work, that’s why we had them put her in ‘Ghost.’ We saw her big a** was booked already, so we didn’t reach out.”

He also defended his choices, saying,

“You think [we] didn’t want Monique, Sommore, or Amy Schumer? They’re on FIRE. WTF.”

With the drama still unfolding, critics are eager to see how 50 Cent will manage future events in Shreveport. This is particularly notable given that his G-Unit Studios, located in the city, is the second-largest Black-owned production studio in the country, behind only Tyler Perry’s.
