UPDATE: T-Boz Clears The Air On Her Health After TLC Canceled Multiple Shows: ‘People Have Died From What I Just Went Through’

Update (Aug. 29, 2024): T-Boz is setting the record straight about her health after TLC canceled multiple concerts.

She posted an Instagram video of her explaining that she is usually private about her health condition, revealing that she’s been hospitalized multiple times in the past due to her battle with sickle cell, however, she never shared it with the public.

She called out people who mocked her health condition and said karma is on the way, adding,

“People have died from what I just went through.”

She clarified that her hospitalization “had nothing to do with sickle cell” and told fans to

“stop associating my name with sickle cell. I am Tionne Watkins, I just happen to have a disease, but it’s not who I am or all that I am.”

She shut down speculation that she was on Ozempic and said,

The ignorance is just disheartening to me.”

T-Boz then explained that she had scar tissue from a surgery she had 24 years ago, and it was blocking her intestine. She said she scar tissue has since moved and “unblocked it,” reassuring fans that she’s doing much better.

She said she’s been out of the hospital for three days and thanked fans for their support.

It continued:

“However, shortly after arriving in Syracuse, Tionne ‘T-Boz’ Watkins experienced sudden and severe nausea, vomiting, and intense abdominal cramps. She was immediately seen by a doctor and subsequently taken to the hospital for further evaluation.”

The message furthered:

“Last evening, Tionne was diagnosed with a severe abdominal blockage, necessitating the cancellation of both the Syracuse and Foxwoods performances. She remains in the hospital under medical supervision but is expected to be released tomorrow. The doctor verified this was not food poisoning, but an abdominal blockage….The decision to cancel was made under the advisement of her physician, who required her to stay in the hospital overnight to undergo a CT scan to assess the severity of her condition.”

Giving a hopeful update, T-Boz  hinted that she could be back on her feet as early as tomorrow, captioning the post:

“I’m on The Mend!!! This Was Just One Of Those Unexpected Things That I Had No Control Over! I Look Forward To Making It Up 2 You All… And Hopefully I’ll Get Out Of The Hospital Soon!!!”

As you may know, T-Boz had a long struggle maintaining her health, navigating a career as an international star while managing her sickle cell anemia. The rare blood disorder – which causes joint and muscle pain, infections, and severe fatigue – has caused complications for the singer in the past and was initially speculated to be the reason behind TLC cancelling their tour in Australia at the start of the year. The duo later confirmed that wasn’t the case, however.

Commenters chimed into under the post offering their support, with many T-Boz fans urging the singer to focus on her health and sharing their excitement to see her back at 100%.

TLC is expected to announce new dates for the canceled shows soon.
