Shannon Sharpe Confesses He Wasn’t Hacked When He Accidentally Went Live On IG While Having Sex w/ A Woman: ‘I’m Very Disappointed In Myself’
Update (Sept. 12, 2024): Shannon Sharpe is sharing his side after he went live on Instagram during a sexual encounter with a woman Wednesday (Sept. 11).
After previously alleging he was “hacked,” he took to his and Chad Ochocinco’s Nightcap podcast to tell the truth later that day.
He said,
“I’m embarrassed, someone that’s extremely, extremely private. And to have one of your most intimate details, the audio heard for the entire world to hear. I’m embarrassed for a number of reasons.”
He said lots of people and brands “count on” him, and he typically tries to
“maintain a level of professionalism, even when I’m in the comfort of my own home.”
He continued,
“I’m very disappointed in myself. Not for the act. I think there are millions and billions of people of consenting age that engage in activity, but to have your most intimate details, the audio to be heard, I’m disappointed in myself.”
He insisted the moment “was not staged.”
“I came in, I threw my phone on the bed, engaged in an activity. I did not know… I’ve never been on IG live. I’ve never turned IG live on, so I don’t know how it works. All of a sudden people are calling me on FaceTime that I’ve never talked to a day in my life on FaceTime. I’m like, ‘Why are y’all calling me FaceTime?'”
He said “after a while” he was told he was on Instagram live.
“I’m like, doing what? What am I on IG live for? I didn’t hit no IG live button. He says ‘They can hear.’ Now I’m starting to get agitated again… I said, ‘hear me doing what?’ He said, ‘Sounds like you were having sex.'”
Shannon Sharpe then just shook his head and added,
“Man my heart sank. It dropped.”

He said then he called ESPN and said,
“I’ve got to tell my truth. My phone wasn’t hacked. It wasn’t a prank. It was me being a healthy, active male. Y’all thought I was bull jiving. Unc get it in. Real talk.”
