UPDATE: Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs No Longer On Suicide Watch In Prison, Lawyer Says He’s ‘Focused & Very Strong’
Update (Sept. 30, 2024): Sean “Diddy” Combs is no longer on suicide watch in prison.
Law enforcement sources told People Magazine that he is not on suicide watch and his family has visited him while he’s held in Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
A member of his legal team added,
“He is focused and very strong. He is concentrating on his defense and preparing for his trial.”
Original Story (Sept. 20, 2024): Reports are stating that Sean “Diddy” Combs has been placed on suicide watch.
The 54-year-old music mogul is in the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn after being charged with sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He was also denied bail twice this week.
According to reports, it’s unclear if Diddy is suicidal, but sources said that he is on suicide watch for preventative measures and in an unclear mental state.
His attorneys have tried to get him out of MDC and moved to another prison in Essex County in New Jersey.
His legal team claimed that,
“several courts in this District have recognized that the conditions at Metropolitan Detention Center are not fit for pre-trial detention. Just earlier this summer, an inmate was murdered,” the legal team added. “At least four inmates have died by suicide there in the past three years.”
The Bureau of Prisons will decide if Diddy can be transferred.
Meanwhile, his next court date is Tuesday, Sept. 24.
