Wendy Williams’ Ex Kevin Hunter Demands TV Host Attend Divorce Court Hearing In Person & Not Be Represented By Her Guardian

Wendy Williams’ former husband, Kevin Hunter, claims her New York-based guardian is not legally authorized to represent her in a New Jersey court.

Reportedly, Kevin Hunter is demanding the former TV talk show host attend divorce court in person despite keeping a low profile from the public eye. As you may know, Wendy Williams stepped away from the spotlight after news broke last year that she was diagnosed with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia.

According to new court filings pertaining to the pair’s divorce, the television producer argued that Wendy Williams must appear on her own behalf due to claims that her legal guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, has “no legal standing” in the state of New Jersey. The judge overseeing the case reportedly granted Sabrina Morrissey 21 days to prove to the court that she has the legal right to represent the media mogul.

In the filing, Kevin Hunter, 54, wrote,

“Ms. Morrissey’s ‘pro se’ representation of Ms. Wendy Williams is akin to practicing law without a license as she is neither a barred attorney, nor a Guardian appointed by a New Jersey Court.”

Kevin continued,

“It is conceivable that, based on the history of Ms. Morrissey as it relates to allegations of malfeasance regarding persons that she is the Guardian of in New York, that Ms. Wendy Williams may not need a guardian according to the laws of the State of New Jersey.”

The filing furthered,

“Ms. Morrissey is not a party to the divorce and therefore should not be involved in this preceding.”

Williams and Hunter finalized their divorce in 2020 but Hunter has since reopened the case after his divorce settlement payments were ceased. He said his payments stopped after Wells Fargo froze the 60-year-old’s bank accounts back in 2022. During this time, Sabrina Morrissey was put in place as Williams’ temporary court-appointed guardian.
