Stephanie Mills Opens Up About Why She Isn’t Currently Dating, Says Men Prefer Younger & Lighter Skinned Women
Stephanie Mills got candid about the challenges of dating as a mature woman during an appearance on The Breakfast Club today (Oct. 2).
When asked when she found her glowing confidence, the 67-year-old singer revealed that she reached a turning point at 55:
“When I turned 55, I was like, I’m doing what I want to do and don’t care what anybody thinks.”
This led to a discussion about Stephanie Mills’ current dating life—or lack thereof.
Stephanie Mills stated,
“I’m not dating. I’m a very independent woman, and I don’t like knuckleheads.” She emphasized her disdain for men who play games, noting, “Men have a lotta game with them. I’m not gonna play any games. I think even if they have another woman or another situation, I think they should be honest and most men are not honest.”
Mills also pointed out a trend she’s noticed among older men, saying,
“OGs like young girls; they don’t like girls like me. They like them young girls, and most men like high yellow women… they don’t like dark women.”
When it comes to her ideal partner, she mentioned,
“I’d wanna businessman, but they’re knuckleheads too, so I don’t know.”
However, in a playful twist, she added that she would consider dating host Charlamagne tha God if he were single.

Despite the challenges of the dating landscape, Stephanie Mills continues to embrace her independence and confidence, all while remaining the icon she has always been.
