CMA Awards Face Backlash After Shaboozey Leaves Empty-Handed Despite Having The Longest Running Solo #1 Hit
The CMA Awards are facing criticism after Shaboozey went home with no trophies, despite being nominated for multiple awards.
Shaboozey, who was up for Best New Artist, Song of the Year, Best Country Song, and Best Country Solo Performance for his record-breaking hit “A Bar Song (Tipsy)”—the longest-running solo #1 hit in Billboard Hot 100 history—left the ceremony without a single win. Fans aren’t holding back their thoughts, accusing the CMA’s of snubbing the rising star.

On X (formerly Twitter), one user wrote,
“Shaboozey lost every CMA award he was nominated for. They played in his face, but I’m not surprised. This is why Beyoncé didn’t pay them any mind after they mistreated her, too.”
Another said,
“CMA’s gave Shaboozey the Beyoncé treatment. Nominate him, use him for ratings, then snub him. He lost every category. Not surprised at all.” A third tweet added, “Shaboozey did all the kissing and hugging babies in Nashville and lost every single CMA award he was nominated for.”
It’s clear that fans aren’t happy with the CMAs’ decision, and the snub has sparked a wider conversation about how rising black artists are treated in the country music industry.
