Smith, a key figure on ESPN’s *First Take*, has expressed interest in becoming the network’s highest-paid personality, though talks have been complicated by the challenges facing Disney’s linear TV revenue amid its heavy investments in streaming.
Stephen A. Smith’s current contract, which expires in 2025, reportedly includes an $18 million annual offer, up from his current $12 million. He has also shown interest in late-night and political programming, making appearances on Fox News and NewsNation, as well as experimenting with a late-night show on ESPN+.
