Martha Stewart’s Prison ‘Bestie’ Claims She Was Betrayed After Protecting The TV Mogul Behind Bars
A woman who says she grew close to Martha Stewart during her five-month prison sentence claims she was left high and dry after protecting the lifestyle guru from a serious threat behind bars.
Radar Online reports that Stewart’s “prison bestie,” Lisa Guarino, 62, recently recalled stepping in to protect the TV personality when an inmate named Swish threatened her life, saying:
“Martha was terrified. If it weren’t for me stepping in, she could’ve been seriously hurt or worse.”
Guarino, who was once dubbed Boston’s “cocaine queenpin,” additionally claims that despite their strong bond over late-night talks, shared meals, and the difficult realities of life at Alderson Federal Prison Camp in West Virginia (following Stewart’s stock trading scandal), Stewart broke a promise after their time in prison.
Guarino explains:
“She told my family they no longer needed to put money on my books because she was going to take care of me. But Martha didn’t keep her word. She gave me a doughnut—a big fat zero.”

After Guarino was released, she says she was further hurt by the TV personality’s actions, recalling:
“I went to see her at an event promoting her 100th cookbook…She ignored me completely and left through a side exit. I was offended.”
Adding:
“I believed we were friends, but once she got back to her world, she went right back to her narcissistic ways.”
While Stewart has publicly described her time in prison as “horrifying” and “a very awful thing,” she has reportedly never commented on Guarino’s claims or the allegations she has made.
