Mother Seeks ‘Justice’ After 3-Year-Old Daughter Was Fatally Mauled By Family Dogs During Christmas Visit w/ Her Father
Gina Smith, mother of 3-year-old Kingsley Wright, is heartbroken after her daughter was fatally mauled by dogs while visiting her father’s Ohio apartment for the holidays.
Reports say that Kingsley’s father discovered the bloodstained scene around 7:50 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 27, where his daughter had been sleeping on the couch. After ruling out intruders (as the front door was locked), the father immediately called 911 dispatchers, telling them:
“My baby is dead. This has got to be a f****g nightmare.”
Trying to piece the tragic incident together, he later added:
“That’s why I’m like, did any of my pets attack her or something? I would have heard this… Did they crush her? What made them want to do that to just a little baby sleeping on the couch?”

While the father, who has not yet been named, was taken in for questioning, no charges have been filed against him. The coroner has reportedly ruled Kingsley’s death as a result of being mauled by the three dogs.
Gina shared her heartbreak, revealing she had no idea the dogs were dangerous when she agreed to let Kingsley spend Christmas with her father. She also stated that the child’s older sister informed her of the incident while her father was in police detainment. Kingsley was staying at the apartment for the first time. Gina told reporters:
“I told her I loved her, and I would see her in a few days… I would not have left my baby around vicious dogs. Why would I do that?”
Authorities are investigating the horrific incident, and the family’s three dogs—whom the unidentified father says are terriers—were mandated to a 10-day quarantine.
Despite her immense grief, Gina reflects on her daughter’s joyful spirit, telling reporters:
“She was happy. She liked to sing, she liked to dance. She put a lot of smiles on a lot of people’s faces.”
Our hearts go out to Kingsley’s family during this unimaginable time.
