??Trigger Warning: S*icide and Loss??
Aubrey Plaza is mourning the heartbreaking loss of her husband, Jeff Baena, who died by s*icide at the age of 47.
The Parks and Recreation alum spoke publicly for the first time since his death, releasing a joint statement with Jeff Baena’s family.
“This is an unimaginable tragedy,” read the statement from Aubrey Plaza and the Baena/Stern family, obtained by E! News on January 6. “We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support. Please respect our privacy during this time.”
Aubrey Plaza and Jeff Baena, a filmmaker and her frequent creative collaborator, had been married for five years but shared a life together for over a decade.
Plaza, who had been scheduled to present at the 2025 Golden Globes on January 5, did not attend given the devastating news. Her peers honored her and Baena’s memory during the ceremony.
Brady Corbet, who won the 2025 Golden Globe for Best Director, ended his acceptance speech with a heartfelt tribute:
“Tonight my heart is with Aubrey Plaza and Jeff’s family.”
As they navigate this profound loss, Plaza and Baena’s family have requested privacy and support from the public.
