Groom Unsettled By Bride’s Decision To Wear Late Husband’s Ring During Their Ceremony
A bride’s sentimental gesture has sparked major tension with her future husband.
According to a Reddit post shared by PEOPLE, a groom revealed that his fiancée wants to wear her late husband’s wedding ring during their upcoming ceremony. She plans to wear the ring on a necklace while walking down the aisle.
The groom wrote,
“She lost her first husband five years ago and has kept his wedding ring ever since. She told me she wants to wear the ring on a necklace during our wedding ceremony as a way to honor his memory.”
While the groom shared he respects her past, he admitted the request made him uncomfortable.
“I told her that while I respect her past and the love she had for her late husband, it doesn’t feel right to have his ring present during our wedding ceremony. It feels like there’s a third person in our relationship.”

The bride disagreed and said the gesture is about remembrance, not replacing or comparing the two relationships.
He added,
“She told me that I was being insensitive and that her late husband will always be a part of her, and this was her way of including his memory in an important moment of her life.”
The post has sparked debate online, with some commenters siding with the groom and others saying the bride should be able to honor her past.
