UPDATE: Rapper Tay-K Sentenced To 80 Years In Prison For 2017 M*rder Of San Antonio Photographer
Update (April 16, 2025): Tay-K was sentenced by a Bexar County jury to 80 years in prison for the 2017 m*rder of photographer Mark Anthony Saldivar on San Antonio’s North Side.
A jury delivered the sentencing Tuesday, concluding the high-profile trial. McIntyre narrowly avoided a Capital M*rder conviction, which could have meant life in prison, as he was only 16 at the time of the shooting.
He will remain in custody in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Musically, McIntyre is best known for his 2017 hit “The Race,” which appeared on Billboard’s Hot 100 and currently has 250 million YouTube views.
Notably, the music video shows him posing with his own wanted poster. McIntyre had already been convicted in 2019 for the 2016 shooting d*ath of 21-year-old Ethan Walker near Fort Worth, for which he received a 55-year sentence.
Original Story (April 14, 2025): Tay-K’s trial has finally reached a verdict.
A jury found the rapper, whose real name is Taymor McIntyre, guilty of the 2017 m*rder of photographer Mark Anthony Saldivar. However, he was acquitted on the capital murder charge, sparing him the possibility of the death penalty.

The case stems from the fatal robbery of Saldivar, with prosecutors arguing Tay-K shot and k*lled the photographer after stealing his equipment. Defense attorneys pushed back, claiming there wasn’t enough physical evidence tying him to the sh**ting. However, testimony from his ex-girlfriend directly linking him to the incident was reportedly a turning point.
Tay was a minor at the time of the crime, so he now faces anywhere between 5 and 99 years in prison.
