Pete Davidson Says He’s Spent $200K On His Tattoo Removals But Is Only 30% Done

Pete Davidson is opening up about the long, painful, and very expensive journey of erasing his past, one tattoo at a time.

In a new interview with Variety, the 31-year-old comedian revealed he’s already shelled out around $200,000 on tattoo removal, and he’s only about 30% through the process.

Pete started the removal process in 2020 and said the majority of his arms and neck tattoos are gone. But he made it clear it isn’t a quick fix. He explained that each tattoo takes 10–12 laser sessions, adding:

“That’s 60 weeks of your life on just one tattoo to remove. It’s pretty horrible. It’s like putting your arm on a grill and burning off a layer. Then you’ve got to do maintenance and let it heal properly. It sucks, I’m not gonna lie.”

Beyond the physical pain and cost, Pete shared that the decision is deeply personal, noting his ink obsession came during a time he was struggling with mental health and addiction.

“I wasn’t taking care of myself. I used to be a drug addict and I was a sad person. I felt ugly and like I needed to be covered up… When I look at [those tattoos], I remember a sad person that was very unsure.”

Now sober, Pete is focusing on healing, inside and out.

“I’m just removing them and starting fresh. When I look in the mirror, I don’t want the reminder of ‘Oh yeah, you were a f***ing drug addict.’ Like, that’s why you have SpongeBob smoking a joint on your back.”

Are you surprised by the high cost of tattoo removal?
