Kandi Reacts To Broadway’s ‘Othello’, Starring Denzel Washington, Not Receiving Any Tony Nominations: ‘Of Course I’m Disappointed’

Kandi Burruss is speaking out after “Othello,” the Broadway revival she co-produced with husband Todd Tucker, was shut out of the 2025 Tony Awards.

“Well y’all…’Othello’ didn’t get the Tony nomination. Of course I’m disappointed, but I’m still beyond proud,” she shared on Instagram. The production, starring Denzel Washington as Othello and Jake Gyllenhaal, broke records with $2.8 million in one week of previews.

“Every time I watch our cast, I’m blown away and inspired.” Kandi Burruss praised the stars: “#DenzelWashington @jakegyllenhaal — you both are delivering a masterclass.” She added, “To anyone chasing a dream — don’t let a ‘no’ stop your yes.”

Despite criticism over $900+ ticket prices, director Kenny Leon defended the show: “People are paying what they think it’s worth.”

Kandi Burruss remains optimistic:

“Already focused on what’s next… ‘Tell Me No’… hits different today.”

Should “Othello” have been nominated?
