UPDATE: Sean Kingston Denied Permission To Perform At SummerFest In Milwaukee Ahead Of Fraud Sentencing
Update (May 7, 2025): Sean Kingston has been denied permission to perform at Milwaukee’s Summerfest as a judge rejected his request to travel while out on bond. Sean Kingston’s legal team argued that the one-night performance would help him financially while he waits for sentencing in his fraud case.
They emphasized that he had complied with all bond conditions, including GPS monitoring, and offered to provide a travel itinerary and stay in contact with his probation officer. However, Judge David Leibowitz rejected the motion without comment.
In March, Sean Kingston and his mother, Janice Turner, were convicted of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud, facing up to 20 years in prison.
Their charges stem from a 2024 raid on Sean Kingston’s Florida mansion following a lawsuit accusing him of scamming Ver Ver Entertainment LLC out of over $100,000 in luxury electronics. Kingston failed to pay for the goods and did not fulfill his promotional commitments. Sentencing is set for August 15.
Should they have allowed Sean to perform?
Original Story (May 6, 2025): Sean Kingston hopes the court will cut him a break as he awaits sentencing in his high-profile wire fraud case.
According to reports, the 35-year-old R&B singer recently filed a motion requesting temporary leave from his house arrest to perform at Milwaukee’s Summerfest on June 20, 2025. Kingston asked for just one night, offering to share his full itinerary with the court. He also promised to comply with any guidelines, including checking in before and after the event.
As previously reported, the “Beautiful Girls” singer and his mother, Janice Turner, were convicted in March on multiple counts of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Prosecutors say Kingston used his celebrity status to obtain expensive goods and services from small business owners without any intention of paying for them.

Kingston’s sentencing is scheduled for August. Following his conviction, he surrendered his passport and was released on bond. According to Kingston’s legal team, the strict house arrest conditions have severely impacted his ability to make a living. They believe performing at the festival would offer a rare opportunity for Kingston to generate significant income.
“[Sean Kingston] is going through a difficult time,” his attorneys stated in the motion. “He is hoping the Court will allow him to travel only for work purposes.”
Reports indicate that the prosecution has opposed the request. As of now, the judge has not issued a decision.
