Custody, Could Be Brought To Next Divorce Hearing By Federal Agents

Word on the street is Simon Guobadia is still being held in ICE custody, and may be showing up to divorce court under federal supervision.

According to a report from In Touch, a judge recently scheduled a hearing in the ongoing divorce between Simon and Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams, who filed to end their marriage just 15 months after tying the knot in 2022. At the heart of the upcoming hearing is Porsha’s motion to enforce their prenuptial agreement.

However, the case hit a roadblock after Simon was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) back in February. He’s reportedly been in custody ever since due to issues tied to his immigration status. Guobadia, a Nigerian-born businessman, is said to have had complications related to past visa and residency concerns.

Simon’s legal team reportedly asked for proceedings to be put on hold while he remains detained, but the judge denied that request. Instead, the court revealed that ICE agents have agreed to transport Simon to the hearing in person, if the proper legal steps are taken.

“Counsels for [Simon] indicate that the ICE agency has advised that upon receiving a production order, arrangements will be made to transport [Simon] to physically appear in Court at the Fulton County courthouse,” the judge reportedly stated.

That said, the judge granted a brief continuance, pushing the next hearing to June 11. The court also noted that if Simon is released before then, and can’t be present in person, remote participation could be arranged, provided the court is given enough notice.

A source told In Touch that Simon was actually expected to be released weeks ago, but for now, he remains in federal custody. It’s unclear how long his immigration troubles will continue to complicate the high-profile divorce.
