Brian McKnight Reportedly Made No Effort To Reach Out Before Estranged Son Niko’s Death
Brian McKnight’s family rift appears to have remained unresolved to the very end.
According to a source who spoke with Page Six, the singer “did not contact or see” his estranged 32-year-old son Niko before he passed away after a two-year battle with cancer.
Instead, Niko was reportedly “surrounded by an abundance of love and support from those who truly mattered,” including his mother Julie McKnight, older brother Brian McKnight Jr., wife Carla, and other extended family members.

Niko’s uncle, Claude McKnight, confirmed the unfortunate news in a TikTok, saying,
“This morning, I found out my nephew, Niko McKnight, has passed away. He’d been bravely battling cancer for the last two years or so… It really sucks that he’s no longer with us.”
Reflecting on the family tension, Claude added,
“Apparently, there was so much hurt going on and a lot of things didn’t get resolved.”
As many recall, Brian publicly distanced himself from his eldest children, once calling them “the product of sin.”
We send our condolences to Niko’s loved ones.
