UPDATE: 50 Cent Urges Judge To Block Release Of ‘Skill House,’ The Film He Claims Used His Name & Image w/o Permission Or Pay
Update (June 4, 2025): 50 Cent is furthering legal action to halt the release of the horror film “Skill House,” which is set to debut July 11.
According to AllHipHop, the rapper—through his company NYC Vibe—is suing producers Ryan Kavanaugh, Skill House Movie LLC, and GenTV LLC for using his name and likeness without a signed agreement.
“In or about 2022, Ryan Kavanaugh, the entity Skill House Movie LLC and I entered into discussions about me potentially acting in and producing the Skill House film,” he stated. “The term sheet was never finalized, and neither I nor G-Unit signed the term sheet…Skill House Movie did not sign the term sheet either.”
Despite no contract, 50 Cent and his son Sire filmed scenes based on what he calls “good-faith promises.”
He’s now seeking an injunction and claims they were never paid. A hearing is set for July 3.
Original Story (April 24, 2025): 50 Cent is taking legal action against filmmaker Ryan Kavanaugh, aiming to block the release of the horror film “Skill House” scheduled for July.
The rapper claims he never signed a final deal, despite providing his acting talents and agreeing to basic terms. 50 Cent alleges Kavanaugh went ahead with promotional materials featuring his name, image, voice, and likeness without his consent.
He insists he would never have participated in the project without creative control, ensuring it met his standards. Furthermore, 50 Cent says he hasn’t been compensated for the use of his image and services.
He is now suing for at least $5 million in damages, seeking to prevent the film’s release and pursue punitive damages. This legal battle has raised concerns about “Skill House”s debut, leaving its future uncertain. 50 reposted an article about the matter on his Instagram, writing,
“I didn’t get paid. I’m afraid I’m gonna need that by Monday. You already know the vibes!”
