Actress Paula Patton Speaks On Overcoming Alcohol Addiction, Says She Was Unaware How ‘Chaotic’ Her Life Became: ‘I Just Knew I Had To Stop’
Paula Patton is opening up about what led to her decision to get sober.
The actress recently appeared on The Big Tigger Morning Show to promote her new film Finding Faith, where she got candid about overcoming her struggle with excessive drinking. While Paula admitted she didn’t experience a dramatic “rock bottom” moment, she shared that a powerful epiphany during a particularly “chaotic” time in her life pushed her to make a change. She stated:
“There had been a lot of chaos. I don’t think I knew how chaotic my life had been until I stopped.”

She continued:
“But something came over me, I’ll never forget it. I was just looking out at my backyard and I was gonna leave on this job, and I thought, ‘I can’t live like this anymore.’”
Paula added that she’s not sure if the moment was “divine intervention,” but it felt life-altering:
“I think if I had gone on that job and left, I don’t know what my life would be today….It was just going on a fast-paced ride down… and I just knew I had to stop.”
