Kroger Plans To Close 60 Stores In The Next 18 Months
Your local Kroger could be closing down soon.
News recently broke that the grocery giant is closing approximately 60 stores over the next 18 months. Employees affected by the shutdowns will be offered positions at nearby locations. Saved funds will go toward investing in “customer experience” at the remaining stores, according to Kroger.

On Friday (June 20), Kroger released its first quarter 2025 earnings, saying overall company profit “exceeded our expectations” but that the “macroeconomic environment remains uncertain.” As of the time of this post, Kroger has not released information about which locations are closing. It’s also unclear if this includes Kroger stores under different banner names, such as Baker’s, Food 4 Less, or Gerbes.
