WNBA Reporter Tabitha Turner Says She’s Faced Serious Thre@ts After Claiming She Was Pepper Sprayed & A$$aulted By Her Uber Driver
#TabithaTurner says she was just trying to get home when things took a turn on the side of a Georgia highway.
The #WNBA sports reporter claims she was pepper-sprayed and a$$aulted by her Uber driver, Nicole Smith, after asking for a “cool” ride with the windows up, which she says she specifically selected through Uber Comfort.
According to Turner’s attorney, Miguel Dominquez, the driver became upset after being asked to roll the windows up and turn on the A/C.
After pulling into the emergency lane on I-85, Smith allegedly told Turner to get out. When Turner refused and asked for a refund or for police to be called, Smith allegedly pepper-sprayed her, pulled her from the car, and a$$aulted her.
Turner says she recorded part of the incident on her phone, and a passerby also captured video. Police reviewed both clips and determined Smith was the aggressor. An arrest warrant has been issued for her on battery charges.
Smith later took to social media and claimed she acted in self-defense, alleging that Turner had a g*n.
Since then, Turner says she’s been harassed online and even thre@tened: “I’ve received threats via social media about my karma that’s coming to me, defaming my character, calling me all kinds of names. I have a 1-year-old daughter that I like to take to the games with me, and I can’t take her because I don’t know who’s going to be there to attack me.”
Turner thanked the #AtlantaDream for increasing her security, while her lawyer plans to look deeper into Uber’s policies.
