Doja Cat Trolls ‘Euphoria’ Star Sydney Sweeney’s American Eagle Ad Amid Backlash Over Alleged Racist Undertones [VIDEO]
Doja Cat is sharing her take on American Eagle’s controversial jeans campaign starring Euphoria actress Sydney Sweeney.
In a post shared to TikTok, Doja seemingly mocked the ad by mimicking its tone and script in a hillbilly-style voice. The original commercial features Sydney boasting about her “great jeans,” a play on the phrase “great genes.” Since its release, the ad has faced backlash, with critics accusing American Eagle of subtly promoting white supremacy, Nazi propaganda, and eugenics.

For context, eugenics is the controversial belief system that advocates for controlling reproduction to encourage “desirable” traits in the population. In the campaign, Sydney talks about jeans being passed down through generations, adding, “My jeans are blue.” The brand ends the ad with the tagline: “Sydney Sweeney has great jeans.”
Another video posted on American Eagle’s Instagram shows Sydney standing in front of a poster that reads “Sydney Sweeney has great genes.” The word “genes” is then crossed out and replaced with “jeans,” fueling even more outrage over the campaign’s tone and messaging.
As of now, neither American Eagle nor Sydney Sweeney has publicly addressed the backlash.
What do you think of Doja’s response, funny and fair, or did she take it too far? Let us know below.
